It's nice to find a group for painting. I've been painting miniatures for a bit (off & on since I was 15yrs. old). I have painted a few to completion, but lack a general sense of how good I am, not that really matters to anyone.
As for Warmachine/Hordes, I'm checking the possibilities of Khador with an eye to adding Cygnar as my second faction at some point. (LoE, and Trolls look cool too)
